Founded by the San Pedro and Wilmington Chambers of Commerce in collaboration with both the Port and the City of Los Angeles, PortTechLA is a public benefit, non-profit technology center and business incubator designed to create a new "green collar" job base of Los Angeles' harbor area communities to replace the loss of the area's former mainstay industries...fishing, canning, shipbuilding/repair. PortTechLA's mission is to identify, attract, support and incubate or accelerate companies with technologies that will enable the maritime industry to meet environmental, energy, transportation and security goals.
PortTechLA is currently housed in rented space adjacent to the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce and has begun incubating a group of companies that require mentoring, referrals, business planning and financial assistance, as well as the services of the LA Regional Small Business Development Center. The organization's website may be found at the following web address: www.PortTechLA.org . Executive Director Jeff Milanette may be reached by telephone at (310) 832-0028 to provide additional information on the organization's services.
