Communications

Operational communications in the Los Angeles/Long Beach harbor area are conduction by marine VHF radio from five principal nodes: VTS, Los Angeles Port Pilot Service, Long Beach Pilots, Port of Long Beach Security and the U.S. Coast Guard Long Beach. All users are encouraged to minimize voice traffic on all channels, maintain circuit discipline and broadcast on “low power” whenever possible.
