On Tuesday, July 10, the Port of Los Angeles announced a new friendship agreement with the Italian ports of Naples, Salerno, and Castellamarre di Stabia. The Port now has 17 sister and friendship port agreements with ports around the world.

Norwegian Bliss

Blissful Day at the Port of LA

The Port is proud to welcome Norwegian Cruise Line's NCL Bliss, the first 4000-plus passenger cruise ship to call at America's Port®.
The NCL Bliss is too large to use the main turning basin, so she backed down the main channel in reverse before docking at the World Cruise Center. She is scheduled to depart tonight at 7 p.m., and will return on Sunday, May 27, before heading to Seattle for the Alaska season.
NCL Bliss will make seven more calls in Los Angeles this year and eight in 2019.

Guided by three principles (build/activate/attract), the Port of Los Angeles has invested more than $600 million in public access enhancement and waterfront development projects to date -- with plans to invest another $400 million over the next decade -- and remains committed to delivering projects that provide additional open space and encourage public access, while utilizing a sustainable approach to design, planning, and urban architecture.

An Appreciation of Labor 2018

The Port of Los Angeles handled nearly 9.4 million units of cargo in 2017, setting an all-time record for all ports in the Western Hemisphere. In early March 2018, Los Angeles Harbor Commission Vice President David Arian and Port Executive Director Gene Seroka visited with labor unions to thank them for their hard work and dedication on the waterfront. The Port of Los Angeles salutes ILWU Locals 13, 63, and 94, and all the men and women who work at the San Pedro Bay port complex.

The Port of Los Angeles moved more cargo in 2017 than in any time in its 110-year history, racking up 9.3 million Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs), a 5.5% increase over 2016's record-breaking year. It's the most cargo moved annually by a Western Hemisphere port.
