Chief Information Officer

Lance H. Kaneshiro is the chief information officer at the Port of Los Angeles, the nation’s leading container port.  As chief information officer, Kaneshiro leads the Port’s Information Technology (IT) division, which is responsible for the Port’s computing, networking/telecom and cyber security services. The division’s goals include improving operations through the leveraging of information technologies and enabling the Port’s digitization strategies.

Kaneshiro’s prior experience includes serving at the Los Angeles World Airports as the division manager responsible for the IT infrastructure; Los Angeles Department of Water and Power as the program manager of the business process improvement program, which was charged with implementing enterprise information systems; and Deloitte Consulting where he worked as a senior consultant on large-scale, complex enterprise information system projects for clients.
Kaneshiro’s professional affiliations include ChainPORT, which includes leading ports from around the world, for which he serves as the Co-Chair for the Cyber Resilience working group and actively participates in the CIO and digitalization working groups.  He is also a former Chair for the IT Committee of the American Association of Port Authorities.

Kaneshiro earned a master of business administration degree from the Anderson School at UCLA. He also earned engineering master of science and bachelor of science degrees from the University of Southern California. He is a licensed professional engineer (PE) in California, a certified project management professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute, and a certified information systems security professional (CISSP) from (ISC)2.
