LA FLEET WEEK™ SHIP TOUR TICKETS AVAILABLE ONLINE STARTING TODAY

Free Tickets Require Online Registration; Limited Number Available

SAN PEDRO, Calif. – August 11, 2016 – Tickets to tour U.S. Navy ships during the inaugural LA Fleet Week™ on the LA Waterfront at the Port of Los Angeles are now available to the public on www.lafleetweek.com.

The tours of active Navy ships during the Labor Day Weekend multi-day event are free to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis. In addition to online reservations, tours will also be available on a walk-up basis, September 2-5 – again, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

In addition to ship tours, the LA Fleet Week™ event will feature exhibits, a family STEM expo, military demonstrations, music and entertainment, military aircraft flyovers and fireworks, among other scheduled activities along the Port’s main channel.

When attending LA Fleet Week™, all ship tour ticketholders must present their printed ticket as well as a U.S. government-issued identification (driver’s license, passport or California ID card) in order to board vessels for the 20-minute guided tours. Government-issued identification will also be required to enter event venues, except for children under 18 years of age when accompanied by an adult. In addition, event attendees will be subject to airport-style searches. The LA Fleet Week™ website provides further details regarding important ship tour and event rules, restrictions and prohibited items.

When registering for ship tours online, the public will be able to designate the time and date of their tour but not the type of ship, which will be randomly assigned. For U.S. military security reasons, the specific ships participating in this year’s LA Fleet Week™ will not be announced until two weeks before the event. Each registrant is limited to six tickets, and visitors must be at least five years old to participate in ship tours.

LA Fleet Week™ is a United States Navy, United States Marine Corps and United States Coast Guard tradition, in which active military ships recently deployed overseas dock in a variety of major cities for one week. In November 2015, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, U.S. Navy officials and the Port of Los Angeles announced that Los Angeles had been selected as an official Fleet Week market for the U.S. Navy starting in 2016.

In addition to the LA Fleet Week™ website where visitors can get event information and sign up for email updates, event developments are also being announced on the event’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages, or can be tracked on social media using #LAFleetWeek2016.
