PORT OF LOS ANGELES ISSUES LEASE RFP FOR VISITOR-SERVING AREA IN INNER CABRILLO BEACH PRESENTLY HOME TO CABRILLO BEACH YOUTH WATERSPORTS CENTER

SAN PEDRO, Calif. — October 23, 2014 — The Port of Los Angeles has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for businesses or organizations that may be interested in leasing a visitor serving property located at 3000 Shoshonean Road, San Pedro, Calif. 90731. The property is presently home to the Cabrillo Beach Youth Watersports Center.

The property is approximately 536,480 square feet of beachfront and submerged land and its current tenant is the Los Angeles Area Council Boy Scouts of America (LAAC), which operates a facility it constructed on the site in 1987 as a non-exclusive youth camp facility. Under the existing agreement, LAAC owns all of the improvements located on the site, which must be removed if the site is vacated. The entity ultimately selected as a result of this RFP is free to negotiate with LAAC concerning the use and ownership of the existing improvements provided there is a detailed proposal for doing so.
