Port of Los Angeles Cargo Volume Increases in August
Sept. 14, 2023 - The Port of Los Angeles moved 828,016 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) in August, a 3% increase compared to the same period last year. It was the Port’s first monthly year-over-year increase in 13 months.

Sept. 7, 2023 - The Port of Los Angeles made significant clear air progress in 2022 compared with the previous year, according to the Port’s new Inventory of Air Emissions. Released today, the report shows emissions for calendar year 2022 are down from all port-related sources due to both a reduction in ships at anchor and the Port’s ongoing environmental initiatives.

The plan is being developed in conjunction with SWA Group, a leading landscape architecture, planning and urban design firm.

Lucille Roybal-Allard Elected President of the Los Angeles Harbor Commission; Diane Middleton Voted Vice President
July 20, 2023 - The Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners has elected former U.S. Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard as its new president. The five-member commission also voted in Diane Middleton as its new vice president. Both started their new roles on Thursday immediately after their unanimous election.
Port of Los Angeles Breaks Ground on Second Phase of $85 Million LA Waterfront Promenade in San Pedro
July 18, 2023 - The Port of Los Angeles broke ground on the start of the second and final phase of the San Pedro Promenade along the Main Channel portion of the future West Harbor commercial development on the LA Waterfront. Groundbreaking for the $31.4 million Phase II project follows the completion of the Promenade’s $53.7 million Phase I in October 2021, for a combined Port investment of more than $85 million.

July 11, 2023 - Later this month, the Port of Los Angeles will host the first-ever Oracle Los Angeles Sail Grand Prix, a high-speed, hydrofoiling sailboat racing event that takes place close to shore, as part of the SailGP 12-race global circuit spanning four continents. Thousands of spectators are expected to gather around the LA Waterfront’s Outer Harbor racecourse the weekend of July 22-23 for SailGP’s Los Angeles debut.

July 6, 2023 - The Port of Los Angeles has been awarded $233 million in grants from the State of California to complete essential infrastructure projects aimed at creating a more efficient and sustainable supply chain. The grants were among $1.5 billion announced today by California Transportation Secretary Toks Omishakin at a ceremony attended by officials from ports across Southern California.

June 29, 2023 - Officials from the ports of Los Angeles and Nagoya, Japan, have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to broaden cooperation on several sustainability and operational efficiency initiatives, including port community systems and digital supply chain information sharing, zero-emission vehicle and equipment testing, and a new Green Shipping Corridor between the two ports. The new three-year agreement builds upon the 2020 MOU.
