PORT OF LOS ANGELES TO HOST WILMINGTON WATERFRONT COMMUNITY UPDATE MEETING ON SEPT. 27

Progress Report includes Wilmington Waterfront Promenade and Future of Avalon Pedestrian Bridge and Promenade Gateway

SAN PEDRO, Calif. – Sept. 13, 2023 –  The Port of Los Angeles will host a community update meeting at the Wilmington Senior Citizen Center, 1371 Eubank Avenue, Wilmington, at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27. Open to the public, Spanish translation service will be available.

Updates will focus on Wilmington Waterfront development projects including the Wilmington Waterfront Promenade, currently under construction. Attendees will hear from Port staff on what to expect in the coming months as this $77 million development nears completion. Design updates on the Avalon Pedestrian Bridge and Promenade Gateway will also be discussed in addition to reengagement for the next round of Public Access Investment Plan projects.

Port-facilitated public meetings and community input have been a significant part of this project since it’s inception nearly a decade ago.

Construction on the Wilmington Waterfront Promenade began in November 2020. Once complete, it is set to include greenspace, a plaza, park and playground, walking and bike paths, a picnic pier, restroom, 1300 lineal feet of promenade along the waterfront, and more.
