PORTION OF VINCENT THOMAS BRIDGE IN SAN PEDRO CLOSED FOR CONSTRUCTION FEBRUARY 19-22
SAN PEDRO, Calif. — February 11, 2016 — Southbound SR-47 (Vincent Thomas Bridge at Harbor Blvd.) to Northbound I-110 through Gaffey Street in San Pedro will be closed for pavement reconstruction from 10 p.m. on Friday, February 19, to 6 a.m. on Monday, February 22, as part of a major Port of Los Angeles roadway project to improve the Harbor Freeway and nearby surface streets.
Please follow posted traffic detour signs accordingly. San Pedro drivers should use Gaffey Street to enter the Harbor Freeway, and Harbor Blvd to exit. The Port of Los Angeles’ SR-47/I-110 project will widen the I-110 by adding a second lane that begins after the Vincent Thomas Bridge and extends beyond the John S. Gibson Boulevard off-ramp. Project elements also include bridge widening, ramp improvements, and adding bike lanes and soundwalls to John S. Gibson Blvd.
Construction costs are funded by the Port of Los Angeles, Federal Safe Accountable Flexible Efficient Transportation Equity Act (SAFETEA-LU), State of California Trade Corridor Improvement Fund (TCIF), and Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) Prop C Funds.
