Acting Director of Environmental Management


Lisa Wunder
Lisa Wunder is the Acting Director of Environmental Management at the Port of Los Angeles. In this role, Wunder is responsible for balancing ecological sustainability and social responsibility with commerce and growth at the nation’s busiest container port. She supervises the operation of the Environmental Management Division, which provides comprehensive environmental services for air and water quality, biological resources and wildlife management, hazardous materials and site remediation, and environmental assessments, in accordance with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) guidelines.

Ms. Wunder has more than 30 years of experience with environmental issues, both with the City of Los Angeles and as an environmental consultant. She first joined the Port in 2007 as a member of the air quality group, where she served as a Marine Environmental Manager before her appointment to Acting Director in October 2023. Prior to joining the Port, she worked at the City of Los Angeles Environmental Affairs Department and Los Angeles World Airports.

Ms. Wunder has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with a specialization in Earth sciences from the University of California, San Diego, and a master’s degree in leadership from the University of Southern California. She also has a professional certificate in hazardous materials management from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Ms. Wunder is the designated Port of Los Angeles liaison for several global environmental initiatives to improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by international collaboration, including the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) World Ports Sustainability Program, Pacific Ports Clean Air Collaborative and World Ports Climate Action Program. She also serves as a Board member for the IAPH Environmental Ship Index Program.
