SAN PEDRO, Calif. — Jan. 31, 2011 — National BasketballAssociation all-star and volunteer Los Angeles Port Police Reserve Officer Shaquille O’Neal introduced a new milkshake for Millions of Milkshakes over the weekend, and 50 percent of the proceeds for the next three months will go to the Los Angeles County Alliance of Gateway Boys and Girls Clubs.
O’Neal joined Los Angeles Port Police and youth from local Boys and Girls Clubs over the weekend at the Westfield Culver City mall, where the youths helped design a milkshake at a Millions of Milkshakes store named after the basketball legend. A portion of the proceeds from O’Neal’s celebrity milkshake will be given to regional Boys and Girls Clubs for the next three months. Additionally, officials from the mall at Westfield Culver City donated $2,500 at the event.
“Even though Shaq has left Los Angeles and the Lakers, he continues to play an important role helping the Boys and Girls Clubs in Los Angeles,” said Port Police Chief Ronald Boyd. “We’re extremely pleased that Shaq remains committed to this area and we’re proud to have him as a reserve officer.”
O’Neal has served as a volunteer Los Angeles Port Police Reserve Officer since 2002.
