BOATER REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR 55TH ANNUAL LOS ANGELES HARBOR HOLIDAY AFLOAT PARADE ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2

SAN PEDRO, Calif. — November 9, 2017 — Boaters are encouraged to register now for the 55th Annual Los Angeles Harbor Holiday Afloat Parade on Saturday, December 2, from 6-8 p.m., at the Port of Los Angeles, with this year’s parade theme Peace Around the World.

Officials and community leaders will take part in the parade as judges or passengers on approximately 60 boats parading along the LA Waterfront. Participating vessels are of all shapes and sizes, including powerboats, sailboats, tall ships, and harbor working craft.

Boater registration for the event is now underway. The vessel entry fee for the parade is $35, which includes one admission to the parade awards brunch on Sunday, December 3, at the Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club in San Pedro. Awards brunch tickets are $25 at the skippers’ meetings or $30 at the door. Trophies will be awarded in the following categories: Theme, Traditional, Holiday Spirit, Most Original, Children’s Choice, Judge’s Choice, and the Grand Marshal’s Award.

Sponsored by the Port of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Harbor Holiday Afloat Parade starts in the East Basin near Banning’s Landing Community Center in Wilmington and heads south down the Los Angeles Main Channel. It takes approximately 90 minutes to cover the entire parade route. Spectators may view the procession from several points along the LA Waterfront, including:

  • Banning’s Landing Community Center, 100 E. Water Street, Wilmington
  • Cruise Ship Promenade, Harbor Boulevard and Swinford Street, San Pedro
  • Battleship IOWA, 250 S. Harbor Blvd, San Pedro
  • Downtown Harbor, 5th Street and Harbor Boulevard, San Pedro
  • 22nd Street Landing, 141 W. 22nd Street, San Pedro
  • SS Lane Victory, Berth 49, 3600 Miner Street, San Pedro
  • Cabrillo and Holiday Harbor Marinas, 285 Whalers Walk, San Pedro

Before the parade at 4 p.m., viewers are invited to enjoy free holiday festivities at Banning’s Landing Community Center in Wilmington.
